Trees

Marie Danielle’s tree collection acts as an assemblage of encounters. Each tree, painted with coloured beeswax, represents a conceptual portrait, highlighting the colours and energy that Marie sees in the personas of individuals she comes across throughout her travels and everyday life. The imagery of trees is inspired by the artists’ love of the outdoors and her connection to the beauty of trees. Further, as trees are often represented as a paternal figure in children’s literature and symbology, their presence in Marie’s body of work also speaks to her close relationship to her father. Each tree holds a meaningful place in her life and represents the beauty of a unique and impactful personality.
